Environmental statement

Our commitment to minimizing our footprint

As a global leader in cybersecurity, CrowdStrike takes our mission—to stop breaches—seriously. Our commitment to protecting our customers and communities means we’re also dedicated to doing our part to protect the planet and preserve our world for future generations. We have a responsibility to our people and the businesses we support to invest in sustainable programs and initiatives that help secure the future of our world.

Steps we are taking:

Our actions exemplify our company values and we focus our efforts in the areas where we can have the greatest impact. We are taking a multi-faceted approach based upon our company strategy and priorities, customer and investor needs and inquiries, and industry best practices.
  • Minimize our overall impact on the environment. We submitted our commitment letter to the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) committing to set near- and long-term company-wide emission reductions in line with science-based net-zero targets.
  • Continue to promote a remote-first culture and healthy work/life balance and reduce our environmental footprint by reducing long commutes and the impact that comes with operating big offices.
  • Educate, empower and inspire our people to take tangible steps to live more sustainably and minimize their individual footprints.
  • Member of Business for Social Responsibility (BSR) to enhance our knowledge, collaboration, and action on sustainability issues.
  • Prefer green building best practices in new construction and build-outs of office facilities.
  • Provide sustainable work environments that promote the conservation of natural resources through energy and water efficiency, source material reduction, material reuse and recycling.
  • Identify and measure the most material environmental impacts of our operations.
  • Prioritize environmental considerations into strategic planning for all CrowdStrike data centers, including prioritizing vendors that use green power.
  • Work with ClimeCo to reduce our carbon footprint by purchasing and retiring high-quality, certified carbon offsets.
  • Continually strive to meet or exceed all applicable environmental laws and regulations.

CrowdStrike data centers

We have focused our efforts for CrowdStrike data centers with environmental considerations in mind. We have chosen locations with more sustainable power and with a lower carbon footprint. When feasible, we have chosen servers with lower power demands and we adjust power to our servers based on demand to minimize energy utilized. We are working to systematize our metrics and reporting to ensure we can measure this repeatedly over time. We are working to integrate environmental considerations into strategic planning for all CrowdStrike Data Centers, including prioritizing vendors that use green power. We’ve committed to taking steps to make progress on our goal to be carbon neutral by 2030 by commissioning new customers to data centers with a reduced environmental footprint.

Collective environmental action

CrowdStrike encourages our employees to raise ideas and suggestions on how to be more environmentally friendly and we take them all seriously. In 2019 we created a dedicated Green Team, a sustainability-focused employee resource group and allocated resources to programs that aim to educate, inspire and empower our people around sustainability and to identify, recommend and help implement specific practices and solutions to help CrowdStrike operate in more environmentally sustainable ways.

*Carbon offset purchase disclosure pursuant to California’s Voluntary Carbon Market Disclosures Act ("VCMDA", also referred to as Assembly Bill 1305). Information current as of December 20, 2023.

Environmental Disclosures per VCMDA: Although we have begun to take steps towards achieving net-zero (see above), at this time, none of our Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions have yet been quantified and specific information regarding how our carbon emissions reduction claims are being met, how interim progress is measured and any third party verification of our GHG emissions data or claims, as well as other information required under VCMDA, are subject to our ongoing efforts to develop our GHG emissions reduction strategy and are therefore not available at this time. These efforts may result in the revision of our emission reduction targets.
