Alex Ionescu
Chief Technology Innovation Officer
Alex Ionescu is the Chief Technology Innovation Officer (CTIO) at CrowdStrike, where he leads innovation for CrowdStrike’s security architecture and technical strategy. He is focused on advanced technology solutions and driving innovation in the Falcon sensor and platform architecture.
Mr. Ionescu brings world-class expertise in security engineering and operating system architecture. A distinguished technical leader, Ionescu previously served as CrowdStrike's founding Chief Architect and Vice President of Endpoint Engineering from 2011 to 2021, where he led a team of 200 engineers and researchers in developing groundbreaking endpoint security solutions.
Most recently, he served as an expert cybersecurity official for the Canadian government as the Technical Director of Platform Operations and Research, leading national-level foreign signals intelligence initiatives. Prior to his initial tenure at CrowdStrike, he held roles at Apple and ReactOS.
A renowned industry authority, Ionescu co-authored the last three editions of the Windows Internals series. He has also driven critical kernel vulnerability remediation across multiple operating systems and platform technologies, while providing valuable information security research to the community through conference talks, trainings, whitepapers, and significant contributions to valuable open source software (OSS) projects.
